Meet Jolene

Jolene McCall is a Christian writer and novelist with a Bachelor’s degree in Ministry. Her love for writing began as a small child, where writing became her fortress—a place she could go to feel safe and to have a sense of peace in the midst of a world that was uncertain. Growing up in a small community in the far northeast of Texas, her childhood was often spent alone due to her mother’s dependency on alcohol.

McCall's parents, being older before having children, were financially secure allowing the family to travel on an annual basis throughout regions in old Mexico and to much of the Bahama Islands. In addition, the family owned a three-story A-frame nestled in the Ouachita Mountains in Arkansas. The family’s mountain home is where McCall spent much of her time as a child, often alone, and where she created a life within her mind—one filled with the vibrancy and spectacular scenery of the Natural State—enjoying the splendor of the lakes, the crystal-clear rivers, majestic mountains, and the verdant woodlands. Her creativity soared in life from her experiences—writing poems and short stories, to elaborate her feelings through times of happiness and times of suffering.

Gifted in writing, McCall had always felt a certain peace in her work, but never fully understood her calling until her walk began with Jesus Christ in her mid-twenties. Recognized as an outstanding writer during her college years, this distinguished gift would not be pursued until much later in life. Today, having written seven Christian-based books filled with the teachings of the Word of God, including two—The Narrow Road: Finding Christ in an Uncertain World and Let Us Have a Good Day, COVID-19—which were released in 2020. Both books are an in-depth look into today’s world, based on Biblical knowledge and insight.

After an accident in 2019, the Lord gave McCall a vision for several novels. Being led by a deep passion within, her first novel was born—an historical fiction novel portraying 19th century Europe and the life of Oscar Wilde, entitled Oceans and Time Between Us. McCall, who always had the desire to write a novel spent most of her life running from who God had created her to be—a voice in a world filled with pain. Taking to the streets, she spent five years ministering to the lowly of the world before rising to hear God’s voice as He called her to a new season of ministry. In all of His mercy, God placed within McCall’s heart the vision to see what others have failed to see in the life of Oscar Wilde—a story never before told with a new perspective based on Wilde’s life.

Through the anointing of the Holy Spirit, McCall’s walk has carried her into positions as a public speaker for various non-profit organizations; street ministry officer for Storms of Life Ministry; counselor for those struggling with addiction and grief; involvement in community organizations; and various positions in the church such as leadership, youth director, activities/events coordinator, women’s Bible studies, prayer, and home ministries. McCall continues to seek a deeper meaning to Christianity through the Bible and various research projects. She is a mother of three daughters, one who went to be with the Lord at age 25, one son-in-law, two granddaughters, and four grandsons. The greatest insight through all of McCall’s many messages today is the need for Christians to understand the pursuit of a genuine relationship with Jesus Christ, for without this—there is no other way to heaven.
